Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hannover, (German: Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover) is a higher education institution, officially known as Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover, or LUH for short, located in Hannover, Germany. The university was founded in 1831 and consists of 9 faculties.
It was established as the Higher Commercial School in the university establishment. It was developed in 1879 and named the Royal University of Technology, and in 1898 it began to provide education at the doctoral level. Its name was changed to Technical University in 1968 and to University in 1978. Leibniz Hannover University is part of the Niedersachsen Institute of Technology (NTH) and is also a member of the TU9 alliance of 9 leading institutes of technology in Germany.
