The University of Duisburg-Essen (German: Universität Duisburg-Essen) is a higher education institution located in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was established on 1 January 2003 by the merger of the Universities of Duisburg and Essen. The Universities of Duisburg and Essen were both founded in 1972. With 14 departments and more than 30,000 students, the university ranks among the ten largest universities in Germany. Many international students study at faculties within the university. The annual budget of the university is 470 million euros.
The campus of the university is spread over both cities – Essen and Duisburg. available on both campuses.
The Essen campus is more of a central campus, while the Duisburg campus is divided into 3 parts.
