Berlin Humboldt University Berlin’s oldest university was founded in 1810 under the leadership of the Prussian philosopher and statesman Wilhelm von Humboldt. This university model has seriously influenced other European and Western universities. From 1828 it became known as the Frederick William University (Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Universität). Later it was called Universität unter den Linden. It was renamed Humboldt-Universität in 1949 to honor its founder.

This university has been home to the greatest German thinkers of the last two centuries. Among them; idealist philosopher Johann Gottlieb Fichte, theologian Friedrich Schleiermacher, idealist philosopher G.W.F. Hegel, the pessimistic thinker Arthur Schopenhauer, Friedrich Schelling, famous physicists Albert Einstein and Max Planck. World-influenced Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels studied at the university. In addition, the poet Heinrich Heine, Otto von Bismarck, the founder of the German National Unity, Karl Liebknecht, the founder of the German Communist Party, are also included. In addition, 29 Nobel Prize winners came out of this university.
